Fake helmet sold for almost € 1000 on Dutch auction site

That's really hard to believe That's a terrible lesson to learn. You can actually see the scratch marks from the Dremel tool on the shell. I followed the link and this guy shows up, please don't tell me he is the resident expert, and this was his appraisal value. Funny a Schatting...

    Rabbi's Cap

Definitely looks more a dirty white the more I see it. (y) I guess sometimes the combination of aging eyes and wanting it to see grey everywhere are a bad combination. Lucky for me it wasn't a buy it now option.😄

    Tournai Army Museum Belgium

Beautiful collection I really love the Belgian Calvary Helmet with the Lion always hoping to find one of those. Those collections of German Swords as well as the early guns and Bayonets are just incredible. Are there any storys behind those like where they came from or were taken. Thanks for...

    A of K site

Steve every week when they have an update most of the good ones are gone within minutes, its extremely competitive. I'm sure most collectors are logged in with their hands on the computer hitting refresh waiting for the new items to drop. :ninja:

    Rabbi's Cap

I thought it was the light grey from the photo or is it dirty white. At first sight I thought it could also be the cap of a Rabbi due to the lack of cross or holes where it had been removed. If I had the chance, I would be on it.

Best find of the year so far!

Hi Dane, I had already made a few pictures for you from the reference book, so I thought I'd share them so you can see where my thoughts were coming from regarding the quality of materials, enamel used, and the details of the stamping. With medals the devil is in the details. Notice the enamel...

Best find of the year so far!

Hi Dean, I really feel bad and don't want you or anyone else to feel like I'm beating up your latest purchases, but I also don't like to see anyone taken advantage of or spend hard earned money on bad items especially young collectors. So, I feel I have to say something. The bayonet has been...

That's awesome I'm sure that is something your very proud of and rightly so IMO, his Military career and accomplishments were just extraordinary. My family are relatively newcomers to American and missed the ACW, but my dad was obsessed with it. Every night he sat in his armchair with a book...

    Felt shell with liner

My guess would be someone has all the pieces to make this nice shell and liner into a "very rare and compete original" that will be worth 1200 to 1500 bucks. Keep an eye out the odds are we will see it again.
