I was thinking about the Reserve Wappen. From my understanding the Gendarmerie were all ex-soldiers. Do you think an ex-Reservist Might have transferred to the Gendarmerie and kept his badge? That would make sense to me. Adds some more character to the helmet as well.

I am still intrigued with whether the solder is from a reserve cross. Found this picture and it sure looks like it would make sense.

Great observation on the Wappen. I hadn't thought of that. I agree, keep it as original as possible. Would be nice to get a reserve cross back on it though if that is the case.

Lots of character and a nice regimental marking. You will need to find four studs for the top spike. Looks like the Wappen has hard a hard life based on the solder repairs on the wings. What you do is up to you but I would find the studs and then maybe leave it as is. But a better wappen...

I finished putting one of Brian's liners in yesterday. Looks much better now. I think the one that was in it was Luftshcutz or civil helmet style. I'll save it for a proper WWII German helmet in my spares.
