    Militär Beamte / Railwaymen?

Ron These fellows are Landsturm. The post card was mailed and cancelled by the Bahn Post, which was sent by train, comparable to todays air mail.

    Article on Experimental Helmets

I enjoyed the article Peter. First time I ever saw a photo of the Liberty Bell helmet. As soon as I saw it, I was reminded of the East German Modell B/II, which was designed in 1944. As visually unappealing as it may be, it could have possibly provided the wearer better protection. According to...

Scroll helmets in an artillery unit

The fellow with the "colored" bayonet knot has a S71/84 bayonet, which was standard issue for MG troops.

    IR 126

Photo of the 6th Kompanie, Infantrie Regiment 126. These men have completed their compulsory time on aktiv duty, and are now moving into the Reserve phase of their military service. Dated 1888-1891. The men pictured here would have been amongst the first German Alte Armee troops to transition...

    IR 126

What year is this photo? I have one from the 126th dated 1891, and another dated 1900. Same backdrop and signs I believe are being used. Great photo!

    Unearthing tunnels in la Boiselle

Good Day Peter! I am unsure if they would have ever used a rifle down in the tunnels, but as such, they would be closely billeted in the vacinity of the Front, and the tunnel entrances, so would be required to be armed, at the very least, traveling to & from "work". IMHO. :)

    Unearthing tunnels in la Boiselle

I have often wondered if these three fellows were tunnelers? Three unidentified German soldiers, two armed with Gew 98's and one armed with what appears to be a Gew 88/14 rifle. On the reverse: Dear brother and sister in law! Here I send you a memory of how we come out of the position...

    Gaede headpiece Vosges

Even though you might be able to sustain a hit and come out all right wearing this get up, I bet it would still ring your bell! Haben Sie Bayer, bitte?

    Who Am I?

An additional photo of a second postal schirmutze with suble differences of the other example in color. The blue is a lighter shade, and on the center band, the central horizontal stripe appears to be black instead of dark blue. TThere is more to these postal hats than one would expect.

    Who Am I?

Something else is wierd T. Below is a photo of a Postal schirmmutze. The hat is the same as in the photo at the beginning of the thread. Except on the hat band. In the original photo, the orange stripe in the band, where the cockade is placed, is between two bllue(?) stripes. On the postal...
