Hi Gentlemen - I'd be interested in your thoughts on this wappen I got a few years back. Its not magnetic but doesn't seem to be brass either (unless it's been chemically darkened or just plain aged) Pictures of front, head and back. I'm guessing it's a copy but would be glad of some pointers

Thanks all. EMailed the vendor and he says all the fittings appear brass with the exception of the spike. Will probably give it a miss but many thanks for all your comments

Thanks Ron, couple more pics. The liner is pretty decent, only one hole has torn, but it's pretty dry (and of course no draw-string)

Finally got my hands on a Lachmann that arrived this week. Seems to be in pretty good condition but (like a lot of them) has the wrong wappen and had a JzP spike. Luckily I've been keeping a Kurassier spike for just such an occasion and the patina matches pretty well. So think I'll swap but...

A fake - of course. Collecting is just so difficult now. When I used to collect 40 odd years ago you could only buy at auctions and fairs and had the item in your hands and could tell if it felt right. Now with fleabay nobody is safe!
