    Ulan rgt cap

It's been a while since I've visited this forum . . . hope you have all been doing well! I'm offering for sale a cap I bought from Tony last June. It's wonderful, but I need to raise some funds for another purchase. It's a Krätzchen for Ulanen-Regt. König Wilhelm I (2. Württembergisches) Nr.20...

Tony: How do you do this? :o If you would simply open the museum, I'd drive to Canada and pay to see it. Wow. David

Say it loud or I will cut that little thing off

I'm surprised no one's translated this yet: Here goes: Dear Herr Max Gerstner and wife: I will allow myself to send you the best greetings from here and at the same time give you my heartfelt thanks for that dear package I received and with great courage devoured [must have been food in it!]...

Phenomenal, Tony. I am really happy for you. Frankly, I don't know how you have the patience to own it for a while before posting pictures! That helmet is just a joy to look at. David

    Eisenbahn Regiment Tunic

Thanks, Tony! I lucked into the tunic. The star is courtesy of Jerry Rehr. As for my photography . . . sigh. I was in a rush, but I was excited and wanted to get a pic up on the forum. I'll try to take a better one tomorrow. David

    Eisenbahn Regiment Tunic

Just in today . . . a tunic from Eisenbahn Regiment 3. Overall, it's in great shape, the only issue being a little fraying around the bottom of the skirt.

    A Chas at Wilmington.

Let me jump on the SOS over the MAX bandwagon. The MAX does indeed concentrate on Nazi stuff, and much of that is fake. I had a miserable experience at the MAX in Charlotte. The SOS however was astounding. Great items. Plenty of high end items, "flea market stuff, and everything in-between...

    Saxon artillery

That's interesting, Joe! Guess I won't need to send you the helmet for that 6-year inspection after all! I'm sensing from everyone's comments there aren't a lot of fussartillerie Saxon Haubes out there to evaluate the vent conundrum (if it is one). David

    Saxon artillery

"For the time being, it is perfectly legit to display that helmet with your FAR Waffenrock as there are no unit markings. Ideally though, you should be looking for a Fußartillerie Waffenrock or a Feldartillerie Pickelhaube." Tony: Ideally, I'll find both (not that I've ever even seen a saxon...

    Saxon artillery

Joe: Thanks for the offer. What's your address? :D Reservist1: I was going to ask you why you thought the Haube was foot artillery. Now I know! The Kugel is not detachable. Thanks! David

    Saxon artillery

Thanks for the lesson and your observations, guys! Very helpful. I should have thought of the vent. On Kaisersbunker, Tony says that artillery haubes didn't use the vent "until some time in 1914" . . . Assuming that's so ("Tony said it, I believe it, and that settles it!"), that would...
