Clovis , thank you for educating us on the JR 115 M15. I did not even know that there was a Hessen JR 115 M15. 😊

Another little help in differentiating a JR115 M95 from an RBA18 M15 for the JR115

---M 95 pre-war => majority manufacturer Maury in 0ffenbach am Main

---Wartime M15s => majority and perhaps exclusive manufacturer: Martin Mayer in Mainz. (note the Teller in tinplate, painted black).

but I think that the Bekleidungsordnung is referring to the golden-coloured tombac for the 1895 Wappen
Thanks to Sandy we now have the German 1897 regulations that specify the composition of the "Tombak" used for the 1895 Wappen (https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/thr...-for-pickelhauben-and-shakos-from-1897.18596/), as 86 - 89 % copper, 14 - 11 % zinc.
A quick internet search shows that to be the "golden"-coloured composition of brass, confirming the observations "in the field".
Regards,
Lars
