Offered for sale is an older model Hessen Train Battalion Pickelhaube.

Brian re-stitched the rear visor on this helmet, and did his usual superb work. HIs work is found here in this thread:

Back visor is marked profusely, with Train Battalion 25, Train Battalion 18, and JR 116.
There are 4 issue marks: a small punched TB 18, an ink stamped TB 18, an ink stamped TB 25, and an ink stamped JR 116.
The markings are shown here in this thread:

I acquired this helmet from the Granddaughter of the WW1 US Soldier who brought this helmet back from WW1. The metal support disc plate was on the outside of the helmet, and I have left it as I received it from the family.

There are 3-older brass wing nuts inside helmet for the spike base. No extra holes for front plate/Wappen, only the two original holes.

I added the Hessen kokarde, which I believe to be original. It is silver color with red stripes. Kokarde has the raised center hole ridge around the circumference of the hole.

Missing two domed brads on back spine, as seen in photos.

Price: + Postage.

Payment via PayPal is o.k. I prefer "Friends and Family".

USA Postage: $20.00 via Priority US Mail w/Tracking.

Canada Postage: $38.00 via 1st Class International Mail Parcel.

European Postage: Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, UK, etcetera: $60.00 via 1st Class International Mail Parcel.

Australia, New Zealand, Singapore Postage: $65.00 via 1st Class International Mail Parcel.

Thanks,

Alan

Surely there must be one or more members here who have an interest in adding this very nice looking Hessen Train Battalion Helmet to their collection.

Do not be shy about contacting me with an offer, do not hesitate.

I can offer a couple of different options on buying it, such as selling it without these kokardes that are currently shown on it, if you would like to add your own kokardes to this helmet. I'm open to such an option.

Thanks,

Alan

Lots of lookers here, guys! Any comments? Any offers?

Is anyone simply bored? I find this situation of trying to sell this helmet here to be very interesting.

312 looks generated with only 1-possible offer.

The bump up on this will generate another 100+ looks in 24-36 hours. Probably more.

Amazing.

Some economic realities:
It is tax season on both sides of the border and I always have to pay
There is economic uncertainty on both sides of the border
Pickelhauben are luxuries not necessities and during times of economic flux people save their money for necessities.
Now is not a good time to sell anything because of the above.
l have 4 helmets that I would like to sell but will not do so until the economic situation improves whenever that may happen.
PS: Tariffs are taxes paid by the importing country not the country which makes/sells/exports the product.

Yes the tariffs both known and unknown have effectively kept me from buying anything from the US lately due to the uncertainty. Really sucks!

Well, for one thing, there aren't any Tariffs to be paid on this item upon entry into Canada. It's my understanding that Canada does not tax an Historical Object over 100+ years old, such as a pickelhaube. So, no worries! There should be no "uncertainty" with the purchase of this 120+ year old helmet.

And for my friends in the EU, with my using the correct International Postal Code for "Historical Artifacts" on the Customs Form Paperwork: "9705.00.0090" or "9705.00.0010", and describing the item as a "used, antique helmet that is 116 years old, damaged and incomplete", there should not be any Customs Import Tax to be paid for anyone in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, UK, etc.

Let's try ___ on this helmet.

Same payment & postage terms as above.

Let's see if we can get more than simply 150+ "looks" at this new posting, and instead, get this helmet out the door to a new home.

Thanks,

Alan

So SOLD to a member in the EU, (me) lets keep the spirit alive in international trade and relations
Is customs are a real burden, a former colleague lives in Florida nowadays and will be visited by a colleague upcoming month, I could ask them to serve as post-woman

Thank you, Michiel!

I have sent you a private message here on the forum. I have also sent you a copy of that message to your private email.

Best Wishes,

Alan
