Nice docs, thank you for sharing. I wonder if the patents are handwritten or just name filled copies. The handwriting looks so smooth and identical on every patend I saw.

I have wondered about this myself many times, but have not found the answer 100%.Thank you for your feedback.

Hello Wojtek,

just starting to go through these extremely interesting documents. And the very first one I look at - Dr. Wilhelm Domino, although only a lowly reserve lieutenant was in his "other" uniform, a very high ranking military intendance official! By 1914 he was a vortragende Rat (approximately a lieutenant colonel equivalent rank) serving in the war ministry. He became the Intendant (logistics chief) of the Guard Corps home command on 29 October 1917. Promoted to Wirklicher Geheimer Kriegsrat (Colonel equivalent) on 6 November 1917.

Below is the gazetting of his promotion to Sekonde-Lieutenant der Reserve effective 14 October 1890 as published in the Militär-Wochenblatt Nr. 90 of 22 October 1890 and his listing in the Kriegsranglisten der Intendanturbeamten des Heeres, der Marine und der Schutztruppen.

Regards
Glenn

Patent no 2 of Carl Ludwig Friese (1801-1894) is that of a gentleman who lived to the advanced age of 93. Serving for the best part of forty years from 1819 to 1859 and retiring as a brevet (charakterisierter) lieutenant-colonel, he was recalled for service in the Franco-German war as the commander of the replacement detachment of the 1. Artillerie-Brigade.

Below is the gazetting of his promotion to Premier-Lieutenant effective 31 December 1840 as published in the Militär-Wochenblatt Nr. 6 of 6 February 1841and his listing in the Offizier-Stammliste of Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 6.

Hi Wojtek,

not so much on Alfons Glogowski. I can tell you he survived the war. His gazetting in the Militär-Wochenblatt Nr. 109 of 12 March 1918 shows his promotion to Leutnant der Reserve with seniority from 1 March 1918 in Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 19.

Glenn

Cadet promotion:

Albert von Hennings also went onto greater things: He probably thought his career was over in 1914 as he was serving as a retired Oberst as the commander of Landwehr-Bezirk Meiningen. However, WW1 happened. He served as a battalion commander in LIR 32 and later became the commander of the military police in Brussels. Brevet Generalmajor on 17 December 1920. He died in 1930.

Regards
Glenn
