Rare Baden officer Pioneer Battalion Pickelhaub for sale

What guarantee do I have that I will receive the goods after payment? No offense, but I don't know you and trading is out of the question for me. I'm not saying you're a scammer, but in my country this type of sale is popular and has a name.

Please state a price and confirm you will accept payment via PayPal (not friends and family option) to provide protection for any purchaser, as you are a ‘new’ member.

As previously mentioned this is a parts/put together helmet and in needs a lot of work. An example is the stars holding the spike base in place are rank pips that are normally on officer shoulder boards and the cockades are enlisted, etc.

Chinscales are supposed to be flat brass/gilt if this helmet is supposed to be a true Baden Pioneer Battalion 14 helmet, and not silver as it appears the chinscales on this helmet are. That will set you back probably $250 or maybe more to fix that.

A silver spike that isn't dented up with a matching base will cost between $150 to $200.

The set of gilt color officer stars will run $150 to $200.

The Baden kokarde with a small hole will cost maybe $125-$150.

A National Colors kokarde with the raised metal ring will run $80-$125.

And who knows if a person would ever be able to find a silver officer style back spine that is not damaged, that would fit the shape of this helmet body, to replace the one that is almost broken in half, from what we can see of the fine photos.

I'm NOT trying to kill a sale here for this nice new member, I'm just being realistic what it will take to get this helmet back into proper configuration.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Alan you're a rock star (y)

I really think it's important for collectors especially new ones to know exactly what they have and hear what it will actually take to make it right. I don't think your trying to kill a sale at all but just educate everyone on the reality of the situation.

There is always a buyer out there for helmets in any condition and wish the coming together of them here.

As Alan said, this helmet is a money pit, unless you are a seasoned collector with an extensive "parts drawer".
