I recently acquired some helmet parts, among the items were two shells of helmets. It appeared that someone was trying to restore these as they have had the liners replaced with what appears to be deer skin. But the interesting thing is that both helmets were stamped to the same unit.

It seems rare that you come across items from the same units, at least here in the US.

The stampings match one of the stamps in Col. J's photo collection.

I will more than likely put this helmet back together and use it in the talks I give locally about WWI. Oh, BTW,the one appears to be a size 60 or 62, the other is around a 56 and its stamping is so faded that it will not photograph.
