I wouldn't know if it was rare or not (still learning) but the condition is AMAZING. It looks brand new. I've got a spot on my shelf that it would fit in nicely :D

    St. Paul show report

I just returned from the show in St. Paul. I met fellow forum members Jerry R. and Allan Schaefer. It was great meeting you guys. Allan had some very nice haulb on display and it was really nice being able to discuss the good and the bad and actually have an example in my hand to look at...

    pointless

Hi Bruno, Thanks. I did notice the spike base and just assumed it to be some odd variation. ( I know, I know never assume :D ) As for the wappen--I don't know. If it's a fake-I have seen worse.

    pointless

OK--I'll play along. Besides the missing spike, repainted rosetts and the fact it's missing part of the liner, what else is wrong? :? I'll never learn if I don't ask.

    Something smelly ? Pickelhaube BAYERN-GENERAL

What I was trying to ask was--Did they take a good original helmet and just change the front plate or is it a complete build up of parts?

    Something smelly ? Pickelhaube BAYERN-GENERAL

Pretty convincing fake. Was the rest of the helmet good and only the front plate was bad?

    Something smelly ? Pickelhaube BAYERN-GENERAL

This seller usually has (what I consider) nice looking helmets. But then again, I'm a rooky. Does he have a good reputation or is he someone to be avoided? Joe, in the link you provided, it says that the helmet pictured has flat chinscales. I agree the scales look flat but the rosettes look...

I was going to post this one as well. I don't know enough about these high end helms to comment on them but I would love to hear what the experts have to say.

    chin scales again??

Hi Tony, I did notice the difference. I picked that one simply because it had a somewhat similar reserve front plate. BUT I did see a lot more differences than i saw similarities. That really is what promted my questions. I guess I should have looked deaper into your site. Greg

    chin scales again??

Tony, I compared it against this one---------- http://kaisersbunker.com/dunkelblau/helmets/dbh67.htm I chose this one because they are both reserve officer's helmets.

    chin scales again??

So you guys have got me looking closer at the details. That's a good thing, Right? After the last one that I posted that had chin scale issues, it has me looking pretty close at them. Here is a haulb that has all of the bells and whistles and IMO is a fairly nice helmet ( although...

    help with chin scales--please

WOW--Thanks to all for posting some very nice examples for me to drool over. That Baden Life-Grenadier is SWEET. At some point I will need to learn which helmets were supposed to have flat scales and which had vaulted. Thanks again, Greg

    Kit helmet liner?

Thanks Tony, Very interesting thread and great article by Joe. Some Imperial bean counter was looking for the quicker easier way to produce Pickelhaube.

    help with chin scales--please

Hi Joe, Thanks very much. I had kind of guessed that is what was ment but I am a little slow so I need pictures. It's just like the difference between a flat or vaulted Iron cross. Even though I do not plan on collecting Pickelhauben (I just want one or possibly two) I am finding that I...
