Hi Bruno, Thanks. I did notice the spike base and just assumed it to be some odd variation. ( I know, I know never assume :D ) As for the wappen--I don't know. If it's a fake-I have seen worse.

OK--I'll play along. Besides the missing spike, repainted rosetts and the fact it's missing part of the liner, what else is wrong? :? I'll never learn if I don't ask.

What I was trying to ask was--Did they take a good original helmet and just change the front plate or is it a complete build up of parts?

Pretty convincing fake. Was the rest of the helmet good and only the front plate was bad?

This seller usually has (what I consider) nice looking helmets. But then again, I'm a rooky. Does he have a good reputation or is he someone to be avoided? Joe, in the link you provided, it says that the helmet pictured has flat chinscales. I agree the scales look flat but the rosettes look...

I was going to post this one as well. I don't know enough about these high end helms to comment on them but I would love to hear what the experts have to say.

Hi Tony, I did notice the difference. I picked that one simply because it had a somewhat similar reserve front plate. BUT I did see a lot more differences than i saw similarities. That really is what promted my questions. I guess I should have looked deaper into your site. Greg
