The work on rebuilding this helmet continued today: Thin leather patches installed over those splits. Always mark one piece to show location! Pins in place, ouch! Right side done. Left side. So this initial set back has been dealt with. Next, we finally get to the install the Swb.

Slight Change to our Front Page

Recently, I have had several members contact me looking for the "donate button" which they could not find on the forum. Personally, I could see it on my laptop but not on my iPad. I contacted Joel about this and he moved the button to an area which is not effected by "screen size". So this is...

Got home today after a 14 day vacation, time to get to work! The first step is to remove the remains of the sweatband. Question on Prussian General Pickelhaube

When screwed down in proper position, the edge of the spike top does not extend over the edge of the spike neck. The two pieces meet flush with each other.

First post and hoping for some advice!

I recommend placing a plastic bag over the head form if it is made of styrofoam. This prevents the leather liner from sticking to it and possibly tearing it.

    Question on Prussian General Pickelhaube

I have only owned one of these and it had the correct spike top as I described. Obviously, this your decision to make.

    Question on Prussian General Pickelhaube

A top maker of the period. The only “tell “ with a Prussian General helmet is the spike. The spike top must be flush with the spike neck, no overlap along the edge. Other cruciform spikes overlap the edge of the neck when screwed down. I can’t tell from your photos if yours is correct or not.
