The eagle looks original to me. It is for a Hussar shako. It is missing the backplate behind the 3. The shako color for k.u.k. Hussar regiment # 3 was white. Hope that helps.

Sold at Spencer's novelty shop around Halloween as a costume prop several years ago.

About 10 years ago, Spencer's, a chain novelty shop, sold these as Halloween costume accessories for about $10.00. I bought 3 for the fun of it, and eventually gave them away to kids.

In good condition they seem to run in the $1200-$1500 range.Although I have 2 that I got for less several years ago. But, it's all about condition. The lining is absent and the red felt behind the chinstrap is incorrect. It should be leather. Still, one of my favorite helmets that displays...

In the back of my mind I think I've seen this helmet with a different spike. Indonesian Imperial Guard is what keeps popping in my head, but I'm not sure. It's been 5 or 6 years. It had a funky short spike and I actually tried the helmet on. I especially remember the green felt interior.
