The Hessen Family of Helmets and Their Characteristics

Nothing to complain about. This is a good RBA18. It is in fact the M15 of the Leib-Infanterie-Regiment115. It is the helmet produced during the war to replace the old M97 of the Leib-Hessois.
There are quite a few differences.
---The tip is different.
---The lion plate is different.
---And other details. HesRBA18    115LIR.jpg 115 LIR M95 p.jpg
These 2 extracts alone :
---Lion 115 has more relief, the side fold is twice as high, giving the impression of a thicker plate.
---The foot is different, it pushes the leaf back on the RBA(M15) and it is placed on the 115 (M97).
---The star of the Order of Louis is different, with rounded rays on the RBA and pointed rays on the 115. The crown with the motto is also different.
---No fangs in the mouth of the RBA, but 2 canines in that of the 115.
---The two tails are close together on the RBA, and further apart on the 115; Etc...etc....

An RBA is marked RBA18, a 115 M97 is marked 115R.

I'll do an ad-hoc post with an RBA (from the 115) M15 next to a 115R M97;
