It is a bit difficult to determine for me whether this is a fake or not based on the pictures you provided. As far as I can see it concerns a Baden artillery helmet and most likely a EM-type. It does not look artificially aged to me and the patina on the various parts seems to match. Based on this I think its ok! Are there any regimental markings in the back vsior or a manufacturers stamp?

Regards,

Edwin

Looks like an original Baden EM M95/brass to me (or an earlier model since I don't see a spine ventilation lug)...

Edwin, what makes you think this could be a kugelhelm and not a pickelhaube which had the top of its spike removed to fix a paradebush?

I never considered this possibility so you could be right. I am no expert on helmets with a paradebush but I always thought that this feature was typically for officer helmets but I could be wrong here.

Best regards,

Edwin

Looks original to me, just baked in an attic for a long time. How does it smell? You can tell a lot with your nose.

:D Ron.
I really do need to know more about this....

Does the Wappen look a bit 'odd'? Something about the tone of the brass showing through? The stamping looks good, but the brass seems to me a little off. I've seen a Baden Wappen recently on a 100% genuine helmet, a fake Wappen but old, must have been fitted years ago, so it seemed genuine at a glance, being dirty, but on rubbing off some of the dirt (poosibly 'added' dirt) a very cheap looking gilt metal, not proper brass, is discovered. Just a thought.
