    Wappen

Hello, Recent items picked up from an older collection. Such things are not my specialty, so I'm asking for your observations. The skull has three sets of foldablbe flat brass prongs. There is a remnant of a silver wash on the reverse. This wash is completely gone from the obverse. The second...

Leib Garde H R Feldgrau Attila

That's pretty much the story of Marshall Daut's collection. I worked with him on the tapes by proof reading his text. At one time, he had over 200 feldgrau uniforms. He had half of the tapes made in the European PAL format and when dealers there would not carry them, he became discusted. He had...

    An Uberzug from Soissons

Joe, Not only were the prices formidable, but the shipping was astronomical and I got hit with another $65 in custom's fees. The final delivered cost wiped out any hope of getting something for a reasonable price.

    Ulan Numbers

I've seen an issue cover with a green number "3" and my example no longer has a number, but you can clearly see where a number "3" was removed. The cover is also marked inside to "U.R.3".

    7. Thüringisches Inf.-Regt. Nr. 96 III Btl.

The Aisne auction (in Soissons) was made up primarily of the collection of Stephane Dekerle. I think you can still go to their website and see all of the Pickelhauben that were for sale. It was a big collection and contained a wide spectrum of imperial German uniforms, gear and insignia.

    Prussian Enlisted Reserve

The pencil mark is "10/53"....for the 10th Komp. Just a small note....Träger means "wearer" not "owner".

What I got at the Julia Auction of Doug Buhler collection

James, Lovely items! I especially like the two covers. The one with the cross is for the 2nd Landsturm. :) Chip

    Flammenwerfer Schutzhelm?

There is a fairly famous picture of a trench scene with a soldier wearing a similar helmet (sans the Wappen) and holding a Flammenwerfer. Chip

    M1910 Kratzchen for review

The original cap posted in this thread is a fake. The maker marking has been copied from an original cap and a rubber stamp made. l had posted many of my issue caps on other websites and found to my dismay that all of the nice markings were being lifted and used to make reproductions. I had a...

M1910 Krätzchen from a reserve Regiment.

Looks like an officer's reservist cockade to me. Personally, I'd switch it out for either a Prussian or a Bavarian metal enlisted sew-on cockade. Just my two cents. Chip

    Trip to Verdun

I visited the museum in the early 1980s. I thought it was a shame that, at the time, there was no climate control in the underground galleries. There was mold on leather and uniforms. The helmets were in better shape as they were in cases, but on the whole, I had the impression that if they...
