If this busby at one time belonged to HR 7 there should still be holes from were the regiments Kaiser Wilhelm I monogram was fixed. If these holes are present, that would support it being real.

Without any special knowledge on busby markings I doubt that the busby manufacturing process was so standardized that a deviating font in itself means the busby is a fake. Remember there were numerous manufactures spread all over Germany, and minor details as font used in markings wasn’t...

Looks really good. Really like the photo of them together :) Have you found a place for them in your collecting room? Surely such a pair deserves a special place of honour.

The whole bearskin/sealskin issue is rather confusing. Bearskin busbys are often linked to senior NCO´s and One-year volunteers, but in reality I think every private/NCO who wanted to pay for it could have a bearskin busby (at least as a walking-out garment, maybe not for parades/on duty). I...
