    Hessian Infantry EM Pickelhaube M1915

Broken wappen loops for me are a bad sign, they could have broken because someone was trying to fit this wappen into holes on the helmet that the wappen loops were not a match for.

    Older fakes/prop question urban legend.

Do you have a copy of the book "Pickelhauben (Spiked Helmets)" by Eric Johansson? It's full of a lot of "old fakes" and other questionable helmets.

    Pickelhauben Reference Books?

Hey Jeff There are many reference books out there, many of which have information that others don't and vice versa. In a way, each book looks at the subject matter a little differently. In my opinion I would start with the Verlag Militaira reference books, they have great photos, in depth...

    Cutout helmet

I don't collect steel helmets and really know nothing about them but from looking at this it just looks completely fake.

    Guards helmet

Looks good to me but I would want to see a better detailed picture of the "SUUM CUIQUE" star on the eagle and a good picture of the hardware under the liner. Seems like a fair request from the seller seeing that this helmet will go somewhere near the €2.000 range.

New to the forums, need HELP with lobster-tail Id.NEW PHOTOS

That is a fantasy helmet, sorry. I think the front wappen is trying to copy a Imperial Kurassier helmet. Historically or as a actual Imperial German collectible helmet I think it would want to look like this....

    Fossil

Hessen haubes are one of the most popular helmet types, or at least, one of the most highly paid for.

    Hessian Picklehaube

Hey Dave Sorry but I don't like it. It looks like someone messed around with this helmet a lot. Looks like a lot of suspicious extra holes in the leather shell. The nuts holding the cruciform spike base seem oddly big and a bit deformed. Sorry :|

    Prussian Guard Pickelhaube

The leather chin strap is totally normal on this helmet. It's a nice helmet! :)

    Forthcoming set of books

#-o I saw the word "Feldzug" and the cover of the book then thought the word "Überzug" for whatever reason. I shouldn't be writing comments at 6 in the morning. :coffee:

    Forthcoming set of books

The book looks nice, good layout and quality pictures. Why "Feldzug?" Looks to me to cover more than helmet covers. Its interesting to see that they aren't using only "super" condition helmets.
