A helmet I have been patiently waiting to buy because I wanted a REAL General . (not a Garde Dragoner with Bavarian spike.)
The gilding on this helmet is breathtaking , and the gewölbter Gardestern is super !
On the inside ,under the support plate , written in pencil ,all in the same handwriting ;
58 (size), and “ Inf. General” and name .

Great helmet, congrats!
Can you make out the name of the original owner?

Edwin

Super helmet Spiker!
It must be a Bavarian. They always smell the worst!

The best one I have seen, fantastic condition and very nice to have that tall spike as well.

Thank you very much gents .

Comparing this General with my Garde Dragoon, I noticed that the eagle on the General is a lot better looking . with smaller head and perforated beak.
just an observation.
I’m not saying all generals should have this type of eagle , it also depended on what the officer ordered and different makers.

The main difference other then the wappen I have always noticed on Generals is the spike and how it does not overlap the base is screws into like normal officers. Yours is textbook

I am missing the cherry on the cake: who was the wearer? It could be great to tell his story and his military carreer!!!

My General which I have owned for many years is an earlier model
where the Garde star is flatter. I will try and do a photo when I
figure out how to post photos .
