Great study on the different shapes of the Leibhusaren Pelzmützen skulls in this great book:

I see 3 Totenkopf "patterns" in these great pictures.

Thank you Francis .

While we are on the subject of 1 LHR 1
I thought that I would post 2 of them that I owned
in the past , but are no longer in my collection .
This 1 LHR 1 Officer shown here is the best death head Husaren Officer
that I ever owned . It came from the former Jacques Pries collection.
It came in the original carrying case with a pair of the officers
white gloves . At one time I knew the name of the officer
and had a photo of him wearing it .It was the best .

The next 1 LHR 1 reserve officer is the war time " Plush " body . This came many years ago
from the old Graf Klenau auction. I sold the helmet to a Calif. collector who
kept it for some years , then I think was consigned to " Der Rittmeister "
I have no doubt that the helmet is 100 % correct .
I have owned 3 of these in my 46 years of collecting
1. a line H R officer
2. a 7th H R officer with his name tag in the helmet
3. this 1 LHR 1 officer
None of the 3 are still in my collection , but I try and keep
photos of the helmets that I have owned over the years
and felt they were worth sharing .
I will try and post the 7th photo later .

Down Memory Lane .
While in the 1 and 2 LHR photo section
of things that were in my collection in the past .
Here is a display of 1 and 2 LHR officers
At that time I was trying to get an officers uniform
from each of the Husaren regiments .
Brian Sanders now has the best and complete Husaren
collection that I have seen .

Here is the cavalry Standarte of the 2 LHR 2 Danzig . This is on the original
pole with 1870 Grand Cross of the Iron Cross awarded for combat in the
1870/71 Franco - Prussian War . Also in the photo the 2 rings for the pole
one the unit ring ; the other silver ring engraved with the date that
Kaiser Wilhelm II gave the new flag to the regiment .
This I traded to another collector a few years ago .
This Standarte is one of a kind and is the "swallow tail " pattern
that some of the cavalry units were changed to from the
"old muster " flags which were made in a square .
