I can't answer the question you raised but Adrianapole is modern-day Edirne in Western Thrace; prior to the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453 this was the capital of the Ottoman empire.

Ron, Good point re the voided crowns and it caused me to examine my examples. Both my General's helmets have all three crowns voided as do the Schwere Reiter and Chevauleger examples. Both of my infantry examples (Lieb Regt 1 and line infantry regiment) only have the central crown voided. Ian

The gilt versions are for General Staff in the War Ministry, Medical Officers and Artillery Officers. Infantry General officers helmet in contrast were fitted with silver mountings and fittings. To my mind €3,000 is too light for originals; I would have expected closer to €4,500-€5,000

Absolutely; this type of liner only arrived in 1933. It also has M35 rivets. That's a repro chinstrap for sure.

Great research vonKluck. Don't you just love it when the pieces fall into place like that? From my own grandfather's service history it is easy to see how in wartime units/sub-units and individuals can get posted to all sorts of locations which at first look belie belief. Good job!
