    Turkish Ottoman PC - WWI

I can't answer the question you raised but Adrianapole is modern-day Edirne in Western Thrace; prior to the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453 this was the capital of the Ottoman empire.

    Bavarian vulcanfiber pickelhaube

I think the enamel plates were only introduced in 1913... When I looked at Stubbs for confirmation of the above I noticed that he features Bavarian Generals' helmets with only the central crown voided #-o

    Bavarian vulcanfiber pickelhaube

...go on then, I will play as well. This is an example with just the central crown pierced just as a contrast ... and now a version with the later simplified wappen with just the central crown pierced.

    Bavarian vulcanfiber pickelhaube

Ron, Good point re the voided crowns and it caused me to examine my examples. Both my General's helmets have all three crowns voided as do the Schwere Reiter and Chevauleger examples. Both of my infantry examples (Lieb Regt 1 and line infantry regiment) only have the central crown voided. Ian

    Bavarian vulcanfiber pickelhaube

I like it :thumb up: Those vulcanfibre helmets always display well because they retain their shape; this does, however, appear to have had some light restoration. The front retaining pin looks to have been replaced at some time. I'm aware that on Bavarian helmets the front retaining pin is...

What a great Haube, but what a great price too...RIR90

Even given it's rarity that is a pretty steep price. Makes me feel all warm inside :) Not quite on point but in rather better condition!

    Generals helmets

The gilt versions are for General Staff in the War Ministry, Medical Officers and Artillery Officers. Infantry General officers helmet in contrast were fitted with silver mountings and fittings. To my mind €3,000 is too light for originals; I would have expected closer to €4,500-€5,000

    M16 Stahlhelm - Freikorps?

Absolutely; this type of liner only arrived in 1933. It also has M35 rivets. That's a repro chinstrap for sure.

Sachsen Leibgrenadierregiment nr. 100 with touching monument

Great research vonKluck. Don't you just love it when the pieces fall into place like that? From my own grandfather's service history it is easy to see how in wartime units/sub-units and individuals can get posted to all sorts of locations which at first look belie belief. Good job!

    Battle Damaged 10th Company Garde-Division Helmet F.B. 62

That is one neat helmet; can't think he would have survived that level of shell fragment impact!

    Thomas Weber's "Hitler's First War"

I have to say that I found this book very interesting. It is very much a book of 2 halves with the post-war analysis being for me much the less interesting and very much repetitive. The English version could do with a decent editor to correct some of the gross errors in the text, and I found...

    ear cutout helmet

For me it's not even close I'm afraid. As already mentioned the flare is incorrect as is the liner. Also the retention of the strap to the bales does not conform to the M1918 form; the chinstrap should be retained via metal pop-rivets, not sewn.
