    Italian dragoon helmet

A new acquaintance of mine asked me to ID a helmet he had for a while... A quick search on Google told me it was an Italian dragoon's helmet from the reign of Victor Emanuel III. Far from being an expert here... 1- I am correct? 2- Are parts available for repair? (chin strap etc) 3- Any...

    Seeking advice on cuirassier helmet

G'day gents! Long time! I found an incredible little museum in the Eastern Townships (near Sherbrooke Quebec) with a small but still quite impressive military collection spanning nearly 2 centuries. It’s in Knowlton, a small town of barely 5,000 inhabitants. Believe it or not, this museum...

Hessen Darmstadt Medal: Good or Fake?

Same here but for Hessen-Kassel, and just like you mention, that makes the Royal cypher completely wrong... Weird. One of my references even goes as far as quoting the writing on the Hessen-Darmstadt verdiesnt medals, all 24 different messages, but this one isn't on the list.

Hessen Darmstadt Medal: Good or Fake?

Like I said, according to my multiple references, this sucker doesn't even exist... But heh... Hessen medals aren't exactly the best documented ones on Earth, especially during the early 19th century. Try this guy, send him your pics, he's a real authority on the subject...

Hessen Darmstadt Medal: Good or Fake?

Man... Are you sure this is the real McCoy? I have never before seen a suspension loop mount like that on an Hessen-Darmstadt medal... Hessen-Kassel yes, Hessen-Darmstadt, no... And the inscription: "FÜR TREUEN DIENST IM KRIEGE" I've looked all over my references and it simply doesn't come...

    "Take the Crimea...

Nice! I myself own the Crimean war medal but with 3 bars, also bestowed upon a sergeant. And I was lucky enough to find it matched to a "British issue" Turkish Crimea medal... That made my day!! I consider this small 2 medal set as one of the jewels in my collection. Cheers! Frank
