Just plain wrong... (WARNING not for children!)

I know this thread is a year old, but I still need to make a comment. This medal is a fact of history. So is the history of racisim in America. It should not be ignored, shoved in the closet etc. Only by pointing it out, will it be seen as wrong to future generations. This does not seem...

    Unteroffizier Feldartillerie Kugelhelm1915

Not to be picky, it's a beautiful Pickelhaub, and straight, but the German word "Kubel" is "bucket" as in Kubelwagen. The word you are looking for is probably "Kugelhelm" which means "ball, bullet, etc. Just one letter makes a big difference. :)

    Pickelhaube informations

Sorry, I forgot one thing: Take the National Kokard off this helmet and save it for another. City police would only wear the kingdom/state/principality Kokard, on the wearer's right side. In this case green and white, the Sachsen colors. Specifically this would be a Kokard for Leipzig; green...

    Pickelhaube informations

I would say definitely Leipzig city police. This Spitze, while not unique to police, is the commonly used Polizeispitze, the rear visor trim (Randeinfassung) is also common for Polizei helmets. Most fire helmets have combs (Kamm) for the lower ranks, spikes are seen at commander levels though...

Imperial group Prussian, Order of the Crown 4th class swords

Beautiful group. Does the order of the medals and the slant of the ribbons indicate that it was awarded to a Kaiserliche Marine individual? It looks to me like it was worn on a lapel, with the EK being the highest, and the rest in decending order. What are your thoughts?

Merit Cross for Ladies & Young Ladies, 1870-1871

Of all of these that I've seen, this is the first with the Preussen and Sachsen ribbons combined. Definitely the lady's choice, and beautiful.

The Big Bang Theory #9: 8,8cm K-Flak Cartridge Casing

Brilliant Tony! Cannot wait for the 12 October full reference page on Imperial German cartridge casings. There is nothing like that comes close to what it will be, on the web or in print.

    Saxon helmet on Ebay 6561039039

Appears to be an Officer's helmet of the Sachsen Karabiners. It also can be a service (non-parade) helmet of the Sachsen Garde Reiter. The pics on eBay don't show the colors well, but it doesn't look messed with. If you get some interior pics, please post them here. This one will not remain...

    Mexican haube

Hi. It's my understanding that these were made in Germany, and used by officers of the Mexican army in 1910. I don't think there are any enlisted examples, just officer's. I don't know if they were government purchased or by individuals, but they bring a hefty price.

    Pickelderby

I believe this is the remains of a Postman's hat from the Imperial times. It is missing the posthorn, and some other things. Remember, this was a time when even the postman carried a sword. Stephen

    shako

It is a Polizei Tschako from Bavaria, issued between 1919 and 1932. It has the correct Parade Haarbusch, and is in beautiful condition. Worth every penny bid thus far.
