Steve,Jens ;
Yes that was the Jan K. Kube auction .
Some branch of the German country filed a lawsuit against Kube saying that the flags
belonged to the German Nation and he had no right to ownership or to sell them .
Kube hired a lawyer and won the lawsuit and the auction went on .
I won several of the pole unit rings ; 1870/71 KDM streamers 1900 Banderole and 1870 Iron Cross pole top .
Photo shows the unit rings

IF I remember correctly from 1999 I was at that time talking with Jan Kube by phone .Steve,
yes exactly - the story behind this flag auction in 1999, after the fall of the wall in an East German school (on the attic) these twelve flags (incl. accessories) should have been found!??? So or so similarly the story was told me - but no idea this is really the truth!!!
What happened with all the flags after the 1st World War, I unfortunately do not know. Some of the flags (for example from the IVth, XVth, XVIth, XVIIIth, XXIth army corps*) came from the cathedral of Magdeburg to the War Ministry in Berlin around 1919.
Best regards, Jens

I forgot to list the regiments that have the Colberg BannerAnother favorite but much rarer is the handful of Regts. / Batls who fought
in the battle of Colberg 1807
Some Batls of the following regiments were at that battle and awarded
" Colberg 1807 " in the field of their flag .Also each unit was awarded a special
Colberg Parade Banner for their flag .While at first look they seem to be the same
but each banner was a gift from a different Prussian Prince and Princess.
The banner carries the coat of arms of the Price and Princess .
Here are examples from my collection .

I will be happy to help you at any time about a 1870/71 KDM streamerThanks a lot again for this post!
I have interest in this items, but they are quite rare and what is rare is expensive!
I saw one kdm streamer on EBAY, but like i don't know if copies of these items could exist i passed my way.
Very Nice item the banner with kolberg.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Weitze has a KDM with four clasps if you wanted to take a look. Thanks a lot again for this post!

... ah ok a slightly different story. But now no longer important where the flags really came from. Thanks.IF I remember correctly from 1999 I was at that time talking with Jan Kube by phone .
Because of the lawsuit Kube was not sure that he would have the auction but he was holding all of the bids
I think that he told me that a lady had brought in all the flags and parts to be sold
My memory tells me that Kube said she had "discovered " the flags hidden away
maybe like in a mine ?
I know that during WWII some of the flags were hidden down in a salt mine .....
... yes - the IR145 flag was offered there again ten years later (116th auction, 02 May 2009), it was sold again (to an other European country!???).....
By the way one of the flags sold was the blue flag of KIR 145
It was bought by a collector in Belgium
He later offered the flag to me because his live in girlfriend was going to divorce him
I did not buy it and I never did know where it ended up
....
Thanks .Many years ago I started out collecting German WWII Army .I saw photos of the "new " armyBeautiful pieces. Makes me think of this print, which has had a great influence on my collecting. To me, it represents the essence of the Imperial German Army.
Point of interest ; from the 1992 Kube auction I bought the unit ring for I R 72 .Jens ;

Steve,Point of interest ; from the 1992 Kube auction I bought the unit ring for I R 72 .
Years later a dealer offered a copy of my ring saying that it was 100 % original .
In the photo above I R 72 is # 5 from the right .
Note in this photo the copy is shown on the left
see how they did NOT engrave the # 2 in the same manner is the real ring
The copies are good if someone has not had the original in hand .View attachment 25668
Steve
DennisSteve,
I saw the fahnenring for HR 17 for sale, but the real one is still on the pole!
There‘s a lot of fakes out there.
Steve,Dennis
Correct
You would think that would know what to repro
and not one in a museum .
Did you & I talk about an H R 4 ring before ?
Steve
