Turkish / Tunisian officer navy nice sword

Post by Muselier » Sun Jul 02, 2017 2:36 am

Dear all

I recently bought this nice sword. French made by FX Fiseto Kilngenthal. It looks likes a navy sword but with anchor and specific symbols. Some people said me it could be a Turkish navy officer one. I am thinking more about tunisian one where France was present until 1954.

Thanksfor your help

Rgds

It is definitely a French design. Most of the French ones that I have seen have a black grip. This one must be special since the grip is white and appears to be made of mother of pearl. I don't think that this sword is Turkish because most Turkish examples have a lions head off of the grip, very similar to the German lions head sword pattern. I really have no idea what a Tunisian sword looks like other than the familiar Mameluke type, so I can't help you there.

Excellent find! Congratulations!

John :)
