Ersatz Fiberboard helmet with Rivets to visors

Post by J.LeBrasseur » Thu Apr 03, 2014 9:50 am

This is a hard to find Ersatz Variant Prussian M95 fiberboard helmet with rivets to attach visors. Has nice regiment markings J.R. 53 and a awesome embossed makers mar on inside liner.

Sorry for crappy pics, snowing again!!!

Excellent, you don't see that model very often. So vulcan fibre body and visors?

That's a neat helmet.
What are the rivets like on the inside of the shell?

They seem to be short tubes flattened out--not quite the cutlery rivet type I expected.
It also looks like the rivets hold a doubled-over band of leather cushion inside the shell.
Surely the liner was sewn onto the dome's lower edge prior to adding the visor and neck guard--much like a typical leather helmet.
Very interesting.
Thanks.

Agreed, that IS interesting. I had expected something other than this as well... My thought was that the liner was sewn to the shell, tabs outside and upward, folded down, then the visors attached and the liner folded in.
