Ok -- time for another rookie question. I was just looking at the helmet that James posted and it got me wondering. What is the significance of the plumes found on some pickelhaube and why were only some units authorized to wear them? Thanks, Greg

If I understand this correctly. In 1897 Prussion spikes added the red and white rosette. Does that mean that up untill that time there would be helmets with the same rosette on both sides? Say a Prussion m1895 with the black and white on both sides. Thanks, Greg

Hi Guys, Were m16 / m18 helmets ever decorated with any kind of emblem on a large scale? I have seen the rare instance of some hand painted markings but was there ever anything like the tri-color shield of the nazi helmets? Even on a platoon or regimental scale? Thanks, Greg
